When people thought of the consumptive monsters, they thought of vampires, ghouls, even the more aggressive werewolves, creatures who fed like predators or scavengers. He came from the tradition of plant creatures, and he would never think to feed on his victims, his partners, by pouncing, biting, rending. His feeding came with fingers curled around biceps with the slowness of spreading moss, legs twined together like snaring vines, and shared more in common with a long, luxurious cuddle than with the thrill of the hunt.
