They were a novice in every skill of survival, outdoor exploration, and possibly life in general when they came to the Wild for the first time. But they didn’t deliberately break branches or trod on small creatures, they put their phone on silent, and they smiled at most everything they encountered. While the Wild was not merciful, it was sometimes easily amused, so it kept the little fool in safety, if only to see what they would do next.
