Echium candicans is quite pretty. Yeah, long stamens give a flower such a dramatic look.
Oh, potatoes! I'm so envious. We tried once and didn't have very good luck. Maybe we'll try again some day. Instead, we're planning to try sunchokes as an alternative edible tuber.
