The doctor looked up sharply when her patient said, “I’m having pain in my–” followed by what sounded like birds of prey screeching and radio static. Thus passed several minutes of trying to overcome a previously unseen language and biomechanical barrier. “I believe you,” she assured her tearful and frustrated patient, “and we’re just going to have to get creative to solve this.”
