The trailer park had been there on the edge of town for a long time, perhaps even longer than would have matched the broader history of such living arrangements. The residents had long since forgotten where the trailers had come from, if they had ever known, but the trailers remembered long journeys and open roads and traveling in herds. When the flood threatened to swamp the community, the ancient trailers shook off the dust of sedentary living and stretched arthritic legs once again, and they slowly ambled out of the danger zone, taking their inhabitants and their possessions to higher ground.
