If you catch the scent of saffron or a whiff of wild brandyseed, it’s because preparations have begun for the annual Spice Extravaganza, held at the Events Center at the end of the month. Cooks, gardeners, and traders from around the world have started arriving with their collections of exotic spices and recipes to share. Anyone wishing to enter the cookoff is encouraged to sign up early, as space is limited, particularly for the live competition divisions which require both appliances and fire department support.
