A large and raucous birthday party took over one edge of the park on a sunny Saturday. Potluck dishes spread across several picnic tables, augmented by a barbeque smoking merrily, and bright and beribboned presents littered another. No one at the party knew what was about to be born, but they hoped their festivities would please and mollify it.
