Parfait (left): the Bravest Duckling, future leader. Stands on tiptoe, because tol. Wants to be in the outside right now, thank you. Loves chest pets. Bites everything, but in a happy way?

 

Snickerdoodle (middle): began as bossiest, gnawing on others. Has made no friends at all with this method. Now gets pushed to the back of the group and is reconsidering her life choices.

 

Eclair (right): most timid to start. Now follows Parfait's example by nibbling everything. Is not impressed with your antics. Still believes snuggling down for a nap is the best choice.

 

I'm the only one who can tell them apart, even though their eye markings are a dead giveaway. They’re still too small to wear the color-coded leg bands we bought.

Local custom suggested that sunshine and rain at the same time indicated the weddings of foxes. The conjunction of tornados and rains of frogs was likewise said to celebrate the happy coupling of dragons (or in variation: waterspouts, fish, and sea serpents, according to one’s ancestral origins). Residents that spring shuddered to think of the union presaged by thunder and meteor showers together.
