It took until adulthood, after an adolescence of feeling ugly and awkward no matter the situation, before they figured out there was nothing wrong with them. They had just been living in the wrong environment all their life, in a body churning madly to get by nonetheless. When they moved into the swamp for good, their dry skin and hair recovered, their long limbs finally looked right when eeling through brackish water, and they understood who they were meant to be.
