Lake Lewisia #291
Nov. 18th, 2018 05:07 pmThey brought new things to the oldest tree in the forest, the one so gnarled and lightning-scarred and huge that it could only ever be the oldest and best, and they asked it for its blessings. Babies and puppies were set to loll on its roots, while finished manuscripts and freshly fired-pottery were held up under the shadow of its branches. It was considered good luck, for the new to be known by the old, that they might be carried safely in the vast records of its memory, an anchor for their fragile beginnings.
