Today's Keyboard Smash
Aug. 15th, 2020 09:34 pmA thunderstorm rolled through starting this morning. Which was neat to watch--very clear lines of rain coming down as it approached. And it made for an interesting afternoon, full of thunder that rumbled on for long stretches and sudden tiny bursts of rain.
It became significantly less neat when the power went out. They haven't said yet that it was a public safety outage, but it seems likely. Thunder means lightning, and lightning with very little rain means wildfires. They've switched off the whole town, though, and it hit 109 degrees today.
We're only dying moderately at my house. We've got a generator, which can keep the food from spoiling and give us one fan for long enough to hopefully cool the house a bit. It will also run a pump to move water out of a storage tank to the horses tomorrow. We'll run out of water for the house, though; that pump system is hard-wired and we've still not gotten an electrician to make it compatible with generator power.
Country life, yo. Gonna go sweat myself into unconsciousness and hope things are better in the morning. (You'll know if they are, because that's the only way this post will go up. No power also means no internet, and I persist in not owning a smartphone. Pity, that.)
ETA: Eyyyy! Power's back! Quick! Charge ALL the devices!
