Lucky lucky! A last-minute change in the schedule got me reassigned to the job I really wanted to run. A slightly later change also got rid of my unwelcome trainee. So I got to run beloved fussy job all by myself. (Oh, did you think I loved it because it ran well or easily? Yeah, no, I love my problem children.)

Days like this, I'm rather sorry that I need to take breaks. I genuinely want to just stay and continue messing with it. Especially since they have me doing testing of a new accessory mechanism, so I need to run additional parts somewhere in the mix. Taking breaks is just taking away time I could be doing that.

I...am probably corporate's dream employee in this respect. I regret this tendency of mine. I'm just like this naturally, though. Stubborn and hyper-focused and neurotic and bad at looking out for my own interests.

And now I get to go organize my craft supplies for fifteen minutes, followed by Animal Crossing time. My only complaint is that I do now have a very sore blister on my hand. Why do I keep working jobs full of hot objects?

This year, as we share another joyous Wolfenoot, we offer our blessings to the wolves that embody this holiday, the gifts of meat and warmth and belonging they bring into our lives. Imagine a world without them, without shaggy fur and panting breath and curls of fog that rise with every howl, and know that such a place would be poor indeed. On this day, make space for wild things where you can, in backyards and city parks and hearts, in the places we imagine we have tamed.
