"Oh, that is some real nonsense," she snarled, finally so fed up with the party that she found herself suddenly rising up from the much-trodden-on lawn and her less-than-satisfactory conversation partner, past the picket fencing, over the rooftops, and away. While spontaneous wing eruption was not unheard of, it was normally restricted to situations of imminent death, rather than just catastrophic annoyance. In any case, the other partygoers were just lucky that this particular emergency biological response manifested as dragonfly wings capable of vertical lift, thus eliminating any need for a running start over top of the appetizer table.
