Done This Week
Feb. 26th, 2023 11:42 am*alarmed seagull-esque squawking* Snow? Snow? Snow?
Uh, yeah, so, that was an experience. I've never really had it snow anywhere I've lived before. We got one little snow flurry when I was about four, which my mum assures me was nothing like what we just got. And we had an ice storm or two over the years. It's colder where I am now, but also drier. I've seen, like, two snowflakes drifting around once.
This was...a coating. This was all the shade cloths at the windows sagging down. All the trees and bushes crusted. Crunchy snow up to my ankles in the fields. Snow. Proper snow.
Honestly, that's the only thing I plan to remember about this week. Work sucked, I've got next to no backup, and Friday I really, sincerely tried to have a panic attack about it.
But Saturday, there was snow. I got to throw some snowballs at nothing in particular and stomp about. The ducks thought the world was ending; the dog didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary; the cat examined a chunk of snow I brought her and then dismissed the whole situation as beneath her.
Snow.
Lewisia: 3 new pieces, and oh no, oh no, the downtime is over and I need to get March queued up???
Day job: 35 hours on account of the holiday, during which I routinely did the work on two to three people *sigh*
Cleaning: cleared and scrubbed down the bathroom counter, partially scrubbed the inside of the shower/tub
Gardening: lackadaisical weed pulling, knocking snow off some of the trees and shrubs before the weight could hurt them
Listening: The Sunset Tree by The Mountain Goats (about time, considering how I feel about "This Year")
Other: took the doggo to the vet for a check-up and to get meds for her gross little goblin ears
