Lake Lewisia #1128
Jul. 3rd, 2024 04:22 pmHe had taken to running in the forest for a challenge, dodging boulders and vaulting downed trees to keep his mind engaged in a way a city street or formal track never could. The wildlife had surprised him, cackling jays and darting foxes often pacing him in a way that showed no fear and a remarkably human tendency to stare at him expectantly from just ahead as though egging him on. It would not be until much later in the season, when both parties had grown more comfortable, that he would learn it was always the same shapeshifter, his self-appointed running partner.
