I hath voted!
Sort of, anyway. Technically, what I have done is fill out and package up my absentee ballot. We always vote absentee/mail-in here, because of being rural. It's just that this year the whole state is joining us in this practice.
California! Doing the bare minimum to maintain the ability of people to vote during a pandemic! I applaud this!
I'm not mailing it in this year, though, as I normally would. It's early enough that I COULD, according to all the current estimates regarding mail processing times. But instead, mum will be returning all ours to our not-that-local elections office when she's nearby on Wednesday. That way, we don't have to worry about transit time at all. It will be where it belongs and a settled matter.
Now I just get to spend an undetermined amount of time worrying that someone will decide my signature doesn't match what's on file. My signature, for reference, has always been a nonsense scrawl. This state of affairs has only gotten worse as my joints worsen, because I'm never entirely sure what motions my hand will manage to produce when ordered to create a signature. I think it seems reasonable-looking? *stress*
If you are a US person who is eligible to vote, I encourage you to do this thing! There's still time in most places to get your voting life sorted out.

Date: 2020-10-13 02:59 pm (UTC)It's funny how with mail in ballots, there's so many different points in the process that sort of count as voting, without any clear "I voted!" moment

Date: 2020-10-18 09:26 pm (UTC)Of course, I've also never stressed before about the possibility of my ballot not being received/counted. So let's have a real sarcastic "yippee" for the new experiences 2020 brings.
