Local meteorologists wish to remind everyone that the many charming folk sayings regarding weather patterns are no substitute for sensible precautions. We've all heard the ones about November ice that can hold a duck (or colossal toad or selkie, per regional variation), snowfall that arrives before the sasquatch winter coats grow in, and what the first type of flower to bloom in a given winter signifies for the coming year. Regardless of what these sayings predict, it's probably best to bring a warm coat when you go out, keep a blanket in the car, and bring all vulnerable entities inside for the night, just to be safe.
