Today's Keyboard Smash

Raining this morning. I didn't know it was supposed to and, though I was probably at least half-awake when it was starting early in the morning, I didn't hear it. Much as I love the colder weather, it can be annoying to have to close my bedroom window for the night. Our house's insulation is, frankly, shit, but goddamn, the windows seal up shockingly well in most of the house. Well enough to block out sounds, in any case. That's a shame. It's one of the little pleasures in life to wake up in the night and hear rain starting to fall.

All day, out the big windows at work, the sky has been lumpy and grey, soft and frumpy as an old sweater. It's really a shame I'm committed to living here, in a state noteworthy for its chronic lack of rain, when this sort of weather gives me such simple joy. Oh, for a window seat and a mug of tea right now!
