Today's Keyboard Smash

Gaaaaah... A coworker went home early this morning, coughing on their way out, and I had to take over their workstation. This after they just announced another covid case at work. This time, they actually admitted three other people were being ordered to quarantine because of exposure to that one. So. You know. That's happening.
On the plus side, I took over one of my favorite jobs. It's extra sweet this time, because they've spent days trying--and failing--to get it started up for this new batch, but for me it's running just fine. I mean, it runs like a finicky child, but that's what counts as normal. People are just so impatient with these old-ass machines; no wonder they don't get smooth runs.
Next pay bump got processed too, just in time to count for this Friday's paycheck. I'm picking up overtime starting today, which is...well, I'm at least happy I have the option to stay late rather than coming in even earlier. And maybe if I do this and we get caught up, I won't have to hear any shit about taking time off at the end of the month. (I've given up hope of managing to get time off before then.)
All and all, not terrible for the start of a new year, plague exposure notwithstanding. I'm going to need more audiobooks, though, if I'm going to be pulling a bunch of twelve-hour days. And cleaning will have to wait for the weekend. *sigh* So much for a return to routine--looks like we're just going to swing hard in the opposite direction instead.
