Local custom suggested that sunshine and rain at the same time indicated the weddings of foxes. The conjunction of tornados and rains of frogs was likewise said to celebrate the happy coupling of dragons (or in variation: waterspouts, fish, and sea serpents, according to one’s ancestral origins). Residents that spring shuddered to think of the union presaged by thunder and meteor showers together.
