In one of the greater blessings of being this damn bored at work, I think I figured out a new story idea. There's an anthology call that closes May first, and I've been trying to work out something to submit to it. It's cryptid-related, and I had a vague notion of a story about one of the cryptid inhabitants of Lewisia. I've been wanting to find ways to write Lewisia tie-in stories that stand on their own well enough to go out to magazines. It's the best way I could think of to bring Lewisia to a wider audience. (Well, it's A way, and I thought of it, and that'll have to be enough.)
I couldn't seem to find my way into the story, though. There was a concept, broadly, and a couple character frameworks. But there was no there there. The deadline remains far enough off, though--the story needn't be particularly long--that I hadn't bothered to make any real effort to find an actual story to tell. Thankfully, the story decided to come find me today.
