There had been a lot of talk from all quarters when she first found herself pregnant, lots of short, sharp words: delusion, virgin birth, demon seed, lie. The very real, mostly human baby that eventually arrived put paid to some of the talk, spawned more, and in any case seemed perfectly content to have just one parent regardless. What people didn't understand was that this was a project, something to make and put out into the world, and she had never been one for collaboration.
