The public pools at Silver Birch Avenue have been temporarily closed, following the discovery of a pod of gelatinous creatures using the pool as a spawning location. Wildlife experts are investigating if the pool chemicals will need to be reduced or altered for the safety of the creatures, but initial observations (young jellies seen teething on chlorine tablets) suggest they like their environment just fine. While we wait for the jellies to mature enough for relocation, summer swim lessons and swim team practice and events will be moved to alternate facilities.
