The mirror had been enchanted long before she found it in the attic, but it still felt like something made just for her--just for them. She pressed her fingertips to the smooth, cool glass, relishing how it soothed her jangled senses unlike everything else in the world, and waited until another hand appear pressed against her palm. The boy in the mirror couldn't touch her, couldn't make her ears ache with grating noises she couldn't parse, and she loved him all the more for it.
