Done This Week

Right. So. The car still isn’t fixed. When the timing belt broke, it whipped back and damaged the cylinders. So the whole head had to be removed and sent for machining. Only the machinist didn’t show up when the mechanic expected him to. Found out on Saturday that’s because he’s going in for cancer surgery.
So now the wait time at that shop is several months. We’re trying to find an alternative place, while the mechanic is trying to find a junkyard with a suitable replacement head. We’ll see which solution pans out first. I’m looking at several thousand dollars in expenses, with or without several months of wait time.
Oh, and on Thursday, while coming to pick me up from work--you know, the thing I used to drive to five days a week?--mum’s truck blew a tire. And the spare was flat. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
The next event, I presume, is that Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged will swing by to give me my personalized insult. I’m already at the stage of giving a regular early morning yell of horror.
Lewisia: 3 new pieces, plus another bonus piece written
Day job: 43 hours, because I can’t really DO overtime anymore, now can I?
Cooking: rhubarb quick “jam”
Reading: Butch Is a Noun by S. Bear Bergman, which is now my top “fling at someone’s head to explain what I am” book (including, but not limited to, holy shit, something that openly talks about the overlapping parts of butch (+/- lesbian) and transmasc and trans male identities, without demanding that people give up identity words that matter to them just to fit more tidily in some other box???), in particular, filled with desperate yearning to be the young butch/boy that Bear describes taking out to shop for clothes/haircuts and teaching How to Be Good; Hello Cruel World by Kate Bornstein, as it was the only thing of hers available through my library, charming if sometimes peculiar
Listening: on account of the everything, I chose this week to knock out some singles and a very short album--Walk by Louie Zong (lovely as always), “Ghostin’ You” by Caitlin Myers (cute, to be added to this year’s Halloween mix), “ICU” by Adeem the Artist (has me feeling a way), “Can’t Get What I Want” by Mightmare (good but hasn’t properly burrowed into my brain), and “Starter Villain” by Dessa (absolutely HAS burrowed into my brain, commissioned for John Scalzi’s new novel)
Other: got to donate blood (for the first time in five years, because T is a miracle in many ways, including fixing my hemoglobin levels)
Aftermarket Parts: bought and started Renée Yoxon’s class “Masculinize Your Voice Without Testosterone” (yes, suitable even if you *are* on T)
