Just as creatures in nature tended toward highly successful body plans, such as many things eventually turning into crabs, a similar phenomenon was observed in supernatural settings. From mothmen to shadow beings, distorted humanoids with glowing eyes just proved to be winning lifeforms in a wide variety of habitats. And among humans themselves, it was astonishing how readily people would become wizards, given half a chance and any access to robes, towers, or elaborate facial hair.
