Miscellaneous empty nesters would teach those in need how to tie a necktie, braid their hair, identify emotions, or make a friend. Professionals and knowledgeable amateurs alike made sure the young or the transitioning or the lost learned what they needed to live, all the little things a parent might pass on under better circumstances.
