Though her clothing was often dated and threadbare, people were more likely to remark on the uniformly gray color scheme of it. She usually joked that someone stole all the colors, because explaining the existence of a pawnshop that dealt in such ephemera was somewhat beyond the scope of the temp agency waiting room. Maybe this job would work out, she told herself, before she had to pawn the color in her hair and eyes as well to make ends meet.
