As for myself...

Winter presents additional slightly weird sights!

A horizontal bare branch with some kind of dry, brown seed pod. It opens upward like a flower, out of which comes a slender spike that rises above the rest of the petals.

One of my teammates requested some support in getting more exercise by walking laps around the building during breaks, so we’re doing a little competition/accountability thing. I love walking laps outside anyway, so this suits me fine. Some of the trees in the landscaping around the parking lot, bare of leaves, are studded with these...flowers? Seed pods? Orbital laser weapons? Ceremonial rapier for a fairy?

Though I took the photo, I didn’t try to run it through the Seek app for identification. On another of my laps, maybe I’ll be able to determine what it is. They’re pretty high up, so I’m not sure I can collect any, but I really want one to take home.

A group of branches with hanging umbels of oval fruit-like pods. The pods are pale yellowish, while the stems have pink tones. Below are fleshy, light green leaves.

In the cold frame, things are going a bit feral. This kalanchoe (oak leaf, maybe?) has sent out branches to take over anything it can touch. And then, out of nowhere, it decided to...bloom? Again, a little unclear if this is the flower or the seed pod/fruit that came after. Time will tell, I suppose. I think it did this once before, many years ago.

Against a field of bright green grass, a spike of purple flowers grows. Everything glows with golden hour light.

I weed whacked in the wild flower field, sweeping high enough that all I took out were the forming seed heads of the foxtails. The grasses I’m planting are slowly managing to out-compete them, with a little help. While out there, I saw a few lupine leaf clusters coming up. By the next day, this one had sent up a flower spike and gone into full bloom. Things happen so fast! The evening light shining through it looked amazing.
