Done This Week

Ah, jeebus criminy...

This week was, in order:

final tidying at work in preparation for major business event
dentist appointment
car starts to overheat on the drive home

make it to work again by topping up radiator even though I already did yesterday
get access to the remodeled area at work--time to move in heavy equipment ahead of event
borrow the work truck to drive to rheumatologist appointment (thanks, boss!) because the car won’t make it there and back
return work truck and drive car to mechanic
determine car has cracked radiator, leave it with the mechanic

get picked up for work by boss (seriously, my supervisor is the best)
cower like zoo animals without enough environmental cover as event guests come by the workshop in tour groups
get to pick up the repaired car (yaaaaay) and pay almost $600 (booooo)

have a normal ass Thursday???
wait for other next shoe to drop??????

get offered a half-day off with pay for our team as thanks for all the work we did for the event visit
immediately get requested for interminable troubleshooting on a machine
ask teammates to do my Friday work while I’m trapped (my whole team is great)
claw my way out of the building at the last minute to qualify as a half day
get home and have to field a bunch of messages from work anyway
give up and take a nap about it
wake up to mum on the phone about yet another paperwork fuckup to do with the new company servicing our mortgage--this time a letter saying we have no homeowner's insurance even though, yep, they absolutely have our very real and paid-for homeowner's insurance on file

I am not doing well. I’m not inclined to blame myself for that right now, oddly enough.

Lewisia: 3 new pieces written

Day job: 37.5 hours, with a half day off with pay as thanks for what my team has been working on

Cleaning: fixed the fallen sections of shade cloth at the front of the house

Gardening: planted two of the new shrubs, garden club post

Reading: so much manga! The Yearning Fox Lies in Wait by Nmura (cute, never not a sucker for ancient fox yokai), An Older Guy's VR First Love by Violence Tomoko (this absolutely did not end up being what I expected, genuinely touching), Sugar Dog Life by Yoriko (meh, not really my jam), The Boy I Loved Became the Jaded Emperor 1 by Bekio, Ii Oshikawa with Mitsuya Fuji (I choose to be charmed by this??? a little demented but very sweet),

Watching: back to X-Files--season 2 episodes 1-4

Listening: Dionysus by Dead Can Dance (re-found them on Bandcamp recently, hi, hello, I am back in high school as a babygoth), Mother Earth’s Plantasia by Mort Garson (lovely, discovered via wikis about the music in The Adventure Zone podcast), speaking of which--I am almost done with the final episode of the Balance arc (only took a decade to catch up again, shut up) and I am just wandering around in headphones and tears

Aftermarket Parts: three-year anniversary on T, woo!, also finally left a review for the tattooist half a year after the fact
