Challenge #3

Create a wish list of fandom things (podfic, graphics, playlists, canon recs translations, research help, vids, sky's the limit!) that you'd like to receive. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I would love some podfic recs for Stranger Things. I'm mainly here for Steve/Eddie, though Steve&Robin platonic stuff and found family stories for the group in general would also be very welcome. Light and funny is good, as is quiet and introspective. Not looking for anything too heavy right now.

I would especially like some shorter podfic. There's some truly glorious long fic/podfic out there, but I sometimes want to get my fix with something shorter than 7+ hours! I know some of my favs from the Marvel fandom have been putting out ST podfic as well, but I'm not familiar with most of the people out there podding for ST.

Relatedly, does anyone have any short fic for Stranger Things, fitting the above criteria, that they want to hear recorded? I'm looking to get back into podficcing, and choosing stories is often the real stumbling block for me. Having help narrowing the field would be great.

Why. Why am I having another flare. Why do my joints feel like this. Why is my body cursed. These are not questions. They are formally lodged statements of protest.

Can I just say, though, how truly lovely it was to have yesterday off from work? I did all my usual stuff at home F-Su on the normal schedule, which left Monday as a genuine bonus day. Which is how I managed to get a podfic edited and posted. It was exactly what I needed right then, which is a rare and lovely blessing.

Recording podfic audio when you're not going to be able to edit right away is such a goddamn shot in the dark. A message in a bottle thrown out to sea.

Dear Me of Later This Week,

Sure hope those two takes had enough good material between them to make a useable recording. Sorry about the neighbor's cow outside. Good luck editing!

Sincerely,

Me of Very Early This Morning

Sooooo...I signed up for [community profile] pod_together for the first time. I've never done a podfic event before (and I've barely done writing events, for that matter), but it just sounded like fun. I really want to do more in podfic; so many of my most admired fannish people are podficcers, and voice work continues to call to me very strongly.

I'm wringing my hands at the idea of waiting for the next month or so to see what my writer creates, though. That is. *suppressed shrieking* That is a thing that this control freak is totally fine with, definitely for sure!

Just an observation, post-plague:

I appear to be fueled by singing. Until today, I hadn't felt good enough to sing. This cold/flu/thing came with a brutal cough, so my chest has been hurting. I've been listening to music while I write anyway, but today I started singing along again. It boosted my mood and generally made me feel like I had been revived at last.

I'm curious how much overlap this has with reading aloud. That's one of my best anxiety antidotes. Is it the performative nature? Do I just really need to make noises for my own enjoyment? Would recording songs be a good thing for me, like recording podfic?

Now I want to write creatures who literally subsist in music/song in some way.
